1. Take full advantage of the retirement plans available to you at work . Most companies offer 401(k)s or Simple IRAs. These instruments offer the double advantage of tax-deferred asset growth and reduction of current income tax obligations. Many companies will “match” employee contributions. But Lynn Ann recommends contributing above the amount of the match to the maximum allowed, if possible.
