Thank you for your interest in writing for New Mexico WOMAN magazine. Please see our Editorial Calendar. The calendar outlines the proposed theme and industry focus.

Our primary readership is working women between the ages of 25 and 65 who are interested in reading about successful New Mexico women and women-owned businesses. The majority of our readers are professionals, and many are business owners. (Detailed readership demographics are available from our advertising department.)

The editor currently accepts queries for article ideas via FAX, e-mail, or mail only. New Mexico Woman Inc., is not responsible for unsolicited manuscripts or photographs.

The majority of our contributors are experienced, professional writers. New Mexico WOMAN magazine currently pays writers new to the magazine a minimum of .05 per published word, unless otherwise negotiated. While all support the mission of our magazine, each writes for different reasons. Our magazine is an excellent way to break into the freelance market, or to have a continuing voice in women's activities.

Guidelines for manuscript submission:

1. Submit an Editorial Query Form to the editor.

2. Receive acceptance for your query and suggestions for story angle from the editor.

3. Submit your article by deadline to the editor via e-mail attachment in this format:

a. Microsoft Word .doc file -OR- .rtf file (If a Mac user, please submit .rtf)

b. Times New Roman or similar serif font in 12-point type.

c. Single spaced. ALSO: Please only one space after a period.

d. Each paragraph indented (NO double space between paragraphs).

e. Writer's name, phone number, and e-mail address attached.

4. Please follow AP style (outlined in the Associated Press Stylebook) with this exception:

Include the serial comma before the "and" in a series.

Example: cats, dogs, and horses
NOT: cats, dogs and horses

Guidelines for photograph submission:

1. Preference: e-mail photos. Compress file attachments (.zip) or send separately. Max file size: 800K. Best formats for photos that are e-mailed as attachments: High-res JPEGs, PDFs, or TIFs

2. When sending prints, please send copies only. They will not be returned.

3. Label all prints (or include in all photo filenames) with the article title for easy identification.

4. Always include captions/cutlines and photo credits for all photos.
